What is the cost?

$150 is the cost of the weekend which includes your lodging, meals and all materials for the weekend. You will need to send a $50 deposit at the time of registration to hold your spot. The remaining $100 is due when you check in for the weekend. Consider this the cheapest thing you do to prepare for your wedding day and your marriage!

What is the facility like?

The weekend is held at a facility where you will participate in the presentations as well as sleep and share meals. Sleeping arrangements are dorm style 2 to 3 men per room and 2 to 3 women per room.

Are we expected to stay the night at the retreat facility?

Yes. This is a very full weekend. To ensure you both get the most out of your weekend it is strongly recommended you both stay for the entire weekend.

Where are the weekends held?

All the weekends presented in the Diocese of Rapid City are held in the Rapid City Hills area. Other diocese present weekends in East River SD as well as Wyoming. Click here for exact directions!

Who is this weekend for?

This weekend is designed for any couple who is engaged, married (up to one year) or just discerning whether or not to get married. Engaged Encounter is designed to deepen and enrich your relationship with each other.

What do I need to bring to the weekend?

Primarily an open mind and an open heart to allow God to work in your marriage. Beyond that please bring any needed clothing, toiletries, your favorite writing pen, and snacks for a common table. Bedding and towels are provided.

Can we bring our baby along?

Babies are welcome at all weekends, as are your baby-sitters to free up your time! Please let us know if you're planning to bring your baby as we will make special rooming arrangements to accommodate this.

Is this a typical "group sharing" retreat?

Definitely not! This weekend focuses on quiet and reflection. There are few group dynamics. The weekend is designed to give you, as a couple, time alone to relfect and share with each other.

Will I feel comfortable as a Non-Catholic on this weekend?

We hope so! While we present marriage from a Catholic perspective, we strive to make the weekend welcoming to people of all denominations and/or belief systems.

How do we register?

To register, complete the online registration form. Then please send the $50.00 deposit to the address below to hold your spot. Deposits and registrations need to be received at least one week prior to the weekend. Deposits are non-refundable, but can be transferred to another weekend if an emergency arises.
