Steps for making abortion unthinkable

  1. Restore meaning to the word "abortion" -
In a highly visual society, the use of visual aids is not only a useful tool, but a necessary one. A picture is worth a thousand words.
For great visual resources check out www.AbortionNO.org

  2. Simplify your case -
Even though most abortion advocates would argue that abortion is a complicated, personal matter... the reality is that the one issue that drives all pro-abortion rhetoric is whether the unborn is a human or not. If it is a human than no reason justifies abortion - not women's rights, privacy, choice, poverty...etc. Always point back to the fact that the real issue is "what is the unborn."

  3. Give an clear argument for the case against abortion -
-It is wrong to kill innocent human beings (hopefully no one will disagree with this)
-Abortion kills innocent human beings (this is the one question that we must answer with clarity. All other arguments assume that the unborn are not human beings)
    -Abortion is wrong

  4. Anticipate objections and refute them
Objection: the fetus isn't a human being.
Answer: the concieved embryo is an indiviual, living, human being... by definition
-Individual - the zygote is distinct from her mother, father, and all other living things. She has her own unique and complete genetic fingerprint, disctinct from either of her parents.
-Living - The zygote manifests all the characteristics of biological life: metabolism, growth, reaction to stimuli, and reproduction.
-Human - She carries human DNA with a human genetic signature. There is no chance given nurishment and support that it will become anything else besides a human baby.

Objection: Don't force your morality on others.
Answer: What you are saying when you say "Don't force your morality..." is that my actions are wrong, the very act you just said I have no right to do to others. If morals are relative, then who are you to say that anyone should be tolerant? If parents choose to torture their two-year-old for fun, who are we to force our morality on them?

Objection: Women should have the rights to do what ever they want with their bodies.
Answer: No one has the rights to do WHAT EVER THEY WANT with their bodies. I don't have the right to use my body to hurt or kill others. Every law we have restricts what I can do with my body for the saftey and good of all society.

Objection: Abortion should be a private decision between a woman and her doctor.
Answer: Do we allow parents to abuse their children if they do so in the privacy of their home?

Objection: Many poor women cannot afford to have another child.
Answer: When our grown children become expensive, may we kill them?

Objection: I'm personally opposed to abortion, but it should be up to the mother to decide.
Answer: Why are you personally opposed to abortion? If abortion doesn't take the life of a human being, why be opposed at all? However, if abortion does take the life of a human being, why do you believe it should be legal to kill babies?
